We’ve pioneered the “operational audit” — a process for identifying key efficiency gains and compliance improvements across your organization. Our audits focus on:

To top it off, you’ll get your report within two weeks.
Action-packed
The report you receive discusses our findings and highlights specific recommendations. Each organization is different, but high-priority recommendations often fall into three buckets:
- Risk management
- Data management
- Capacity management
We prioritize specific actions based on their associated risks and the time it would take to resolve them. You can let us know whether you’d like support implementing any of our recommendations.

How it works
1. Review
We request some key organizational resources, like your budgets, policies, and procedures. We review these ahead of our kick-off meeting, letting us ask precise questions to speed up the process.
2. Exploratory calls
We hold a kick-off meeting to drill into issues around compliance and governance. We may arrange further meetings to discuss finance, systems, HR, and any project-specific activities — like grantmaking or applicant tracking — to identify further improvements.
3. Report
We share an audit report within 1-2 weeks, highlighting key efficiency and compliance improvements, and next steps for implementing these. We identify high-risk areas and priorities, and discuss whether you’d like our support with implementation.
Case studies
We conducted an operational audit for the Foresight Institute, highlighting efficiency and compliance improvements across governance, finance, systems, fundraising, and HR. We collaborated to identify the highest-priority recommendations, which included redesigning their application systems for grantmaking, workshops, and seminar groups.
The comprehensive audit by Impact Ops prompted significant updates in our work. Their ongoing advice has also been crucial in refining these processes. Overall, I feel that we are a much more professional organization today than we were before the audit.
